Privacy Policy

This notice explains what we do with your personal information when you use Cantarova, how long we keep it, the cookies we set, and the choices you have.

Last updated: August 22, 2026

1. Who is responsible for your information

Cantarova, which operates cantarova.com, is responsible for the personal information described in this notice. We serve customers in the United States and process their information there.

If you have any question about this notice, or want to exercise one of the choices below, email support@cantarova.com. We handle these ourselves, so there is no ticket queue to get lost in.

2. What we collect

We collect only what the service needs to work:

InformationWhere it comes from
Your email addressYou, in the wizard or at sign-in
The story, names, and relationship details you write for the songYou, in the wizard
Your song choices: genre, style, voice, language, occasionYou, in the wizard
Order and payment records, including the amount and currencyCreated when you buy
Your name, if you give us one when reviewing or signing inYou, or your sign-in provider if you use a social sign-in
A one-way hashed form of your IP addressAutomatically, to stop abuse of the free previews
Basic technical data: browser, device type, pages visitedAutomatically

The story you write often contains personal information about someone else, the person the song is for. Please share only what you would be comfortable with them knowing you shared. We do not need, and ask you not to give us, health information, precise location, government identifiers, or anything else you would consider sensitive.

We never receive or store your full card number. The payment processor handles the payment and tells us only whether it succeeded, the amount, and the location used for tax.

3. What we use it for

What we doWhy
Generate your lyrics, previews, song, cover, and PDFIt is the service you asked for
Send your delivery email, receipt, and sign-in linksYou cannot receive your order otherwise
Keep your order in your account so you can download it againThe access we promised you when you bought
Check submitted content against our content rulesTo keep the service lawful and safe for the people songs are written about
Rate-limit free previews using hashed IP addressesTo stop abuse that would make free previews impossible to offer
Keep transaction recordsTax and accounting rules require it
Measure advertising and website performanceTo understand what works and keep the site fast. Only if you allow it
Send marketing emailOnly if you actively opted in, and you can stop it at any time

4. Automated processing

Your story and the names you provide are sent to the providers that generate the lyrics, music, and cover art. This is automated: no human at Cantarova reads your story as part of the normal production process, though we may look at an order if you contact support about it or if it is flagged by our content checks.

This automated processing produces a song. It is not used to profile you and it produces no decision that has a legal or similarly significant effect on you.

5. Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information for money, and we never have. We share it only with the service providers that make Cantarova function, each of which is contractually limited to doing what we ask of them:

Kind of providerWhat they do for us
Payment processingTakes the payment and calculates any tax
Content generationProduces the lyrics, music, and cover image for your order
Hosting, storage, and databasesRuns the website and holds your orders and files
Email deliverySends your delivery email, receipt, and sign-in links
Sign-inProvides optional social sign-in, if you choose to use it
ReviewsSends a review invitation, if you receive one
Advertising and analyticsMeasures how the site and our ads perform, only if you allow it

We may also disclose information where the law requires it, or to establish or defend a legal claim.

When you allow advertising cookies, limited event data about your visit is shared with the advertising platform so we can measure whether an ad led to a purchase. Some state privacy laws treat that as "sharing" for targeted advertising. You can switch it off at any time using the cookie settings link in the footer, and we honour Global Privacy Control signals sent by your browser.

6. Cookies

Cookies are small files stored by your browser. Similar technologies such as local storage and tracking pixels do much the same job, and everything in this section applies to them too.

CategoryWhat it doesSet before you choose?
Strictly necessaryKeeps you signed in, remembers your order in progress, protects against fraud and abuse, and remembers your cookie choice itselfYes. The site cannot work without these
AnalyticsTells us which pages are used and how quickly they load, in aggregateNo
AdvertisingLets us measure whether an advert led to a purchase, and is shared with the advertising platformNo

The first time you visit, we ask whether to enable the non-essential categories. Refusing is exactly as easy as accepting, and it costs you no functionality: every part of Cantarova works with analytics and advertising cookies switched off.

You can change your mind at any time from the cookie settings link in the footer. Every major browser also lets you block or delete cookies in its own settings, though blocking the strictly necessary ones will stop you being able to sign in or complete an order.

7. How long we keep things

We keep different things for different periods, because some are legally required and some are not:

WhatHow longWhy
Order and payment records7 years after the orderTax and accounting rules require it, so we cannot delete these earlier even at your request
Your song, lyrics, cover, PDF, and gift pageFor as long as your account existsThis is the lifetime access you paid for
The free-text story you submitted90 days after deliveryIt is the most personal thing you give us and is not needed once the song exists
Hashed IP addresses used for rate limiting30 daysLong enough to stop abuse, short enough to be proportionate
Draft orders that never resulted in a purchase30 daysNo reason to keep an abandoned draft
Support messages2 years after the conversation endsSo we can pick up a returning problem where we left off

If you ask us to delete your account, we delete your songs, files, gift pages, and story text, and we keep only the minimum transaction record that tax rules oblige us to keep.

8. Your choices

Wherever you live in the United States, and whether or not your state has its own privacy law, you can ask us to:

  • Tell you what personal information we hold about you, and give you a copy of it.
  • Correct anything that is wrong.
  • Delete it, subject to the transaction-record exception above.
  • Stop using it for targeted advertising, or stop sharing it with advertising platforms.
  • Stop sending you marketing email.

Email support@cantarova.com to exercise any of these. We will respond within 45 days, we will not charge you, and we will not treat you differently for asking. If we have to refuse a request, we will tell you why, and you can ask us to look at that decision again.

You can also switch off advertising and analytics cookies at any time from the cookie settings link in the footer, and we honour Global Privacy Control signals automatically.

9. Security

Your audio files are held in private storage and are never publicly readable. Downloads are served through short-lived signed links generated at the moment you click, and those links expire within minutes.

A gift page link is deliberately shareable, so treat it like a key: anyone who has the link can play the song on that page. Tell us if a link has gone somewhere you did not intend and we will disable it.

We use passwordless sign-in, so there is no password of yours for us to leak.

10. Children

Cantarova is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal information, tell us and we will delete it.

11. Changes to this notice

If we make a significant change we will say so on this page and update the date shown at the top. Where the change requires your consent, we will ask for it rather than assume it.
