The songwriters behind the songs

Cody Cannon writes most of the band's songs, and guitarist John Jeffers contributes some of the best, including "Bury My Bones" and "Bad Weather". Their favorite outside collaborators read like a who's who of Southern songwriting: Brent Cobb, the cousin of producer Dave Cobb, co-wrote "Mud" and wrote "Good Ol' Days" and "Bar, Guitar and a Honky Tonk Crowd"; Aaron Raitiere co-wrote "Dogwood", "Lightning Bugs and Rain" and "Kentucky Gold"; and the Texas legend Ray Wylie Hubbard co-wrote "Die Rockin".

The self-titled number one

Their 2019 album Whiskey Myers was the first they produced entirely themselves, and it debuted at number one on Billboard's Top Country Albums chart and number six on the Billboard 200, a remarkable result for an independent band. It also gave them their two biggest rock radio hits, "Gasoline" and "Bury My Bones".

Whiskey Myers and Yellowstone

In 2018 the band appeared in four episodes of Taylor Sheridan's Yellowstone on the Paramount Network, and their songs reached a huge new audience of fans who had never heard of them. Many listeners still discover the band through the show.

Tornillo: horns and a new sound

For Tornillo, released in July 2022, the band recorded at Sonic Ranch in the West Texas town of Tornillo and added more bass and a horn section to their sound. Cody Cannon wrote or co-wrote nine of the twelve songs and John Jeffers wrote the other three. The album topped the UK country albums chart.

Whiskey Myers songs for a road trip or a night out
